Zahedi Dates

The Zahedi date, both wet and dry varieties, is a widely used date fruit in Iran, especially cultivated in Fars, Bushehr, and Kerman provinces. It is a dry fruit with a yellow to light brown color, round shape, and high durability. Zahedi dates have low moisture content, making them desirable.

Product Description :

Zahedi dates, also known as Qasb dates, are highly esteemed for export from Iran. These oval-shaped dates are popular for their special color, excellent taste, and easy storage conditions. They are consumed semi-dry and khark, with a yellowish color that turns yellowish-brown when wet. Zahedi dates are classified as dried dates and are cultivated in various parts of Iran, particularly in Kazerun, Khorramshahr, Ahvaz, Qir and Karzin, Farashband, Borazjan, Bushehr, Firoozabad, Lar, Khuzestan, and sometimes in other cities. Harvested in late September, they are semi-dry and easily fall to the ground, making them late-ripening dates.
Zahedi dates are high in sugar, making them suitable for producing edible sugars, alcohol, and vinegar. Gilda Date Production Company is a major producer and packager of Zahedi dates in Iran. The cultivation of Zahedi dates is extensive, particularly in the southwestern regions of Iran, including Kermanshah, Khuzestan, Bushehr, Hormozgan, and the south of Fars province. With a relatively low price and rich properties, Zahedi dates are popular, and people with diabetes can use them as a sugar substitute. These dates are exported to Arab countries, Africa, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
Zahedi dates have numerous nutritional benefits, including high levels of vitamins (C, B1, B2), minerals (magnesium, iron, potassium, manganese, calcium), and fiber. They are known to control cholesterol, are low in calories, and are beneficial for heart health and bone strength. The dates are rich in antioxidants, fructose sugar (suitable for blood sugar control and weight loss), and have a warming nature, making them suitable for those with a cold temperament. The potassium content helps relieve muscle fatigue, and the high manganese content has a calming effect on nerves.
Dried Zahedi dates are particularly nutritious, providing daily energy, and contain more fiber than other dates. With around 280 calories per hundred grams, they contribute to a feeling of fullness. The nutritional properties of dried Zahedi dates include high levels of calories, sugar, fat, carbohydrates, protein, and fiber. Dates, in general, have health benefits such as preventing diseases like colds, fatty liver, constipation in pregnant women, stroke, cardiovascular disease, cancer of the stomach and intestines, osteoporosis, and Alzheimer’s disease. Iran, with its diverse climate, is a prime location for cultivating Zahedi dates, and the provinces of Bushehr, Fars, and Hormozgan are major contributors to the production of this sought-after date variety.
